HUMANITAS MAXIMUS ARTICLES

You should read the fine print which follows first...

*Note to my Readers About Viewing Posts: This blog is formatted in such a manner as to cut off certain of the larger graphics that appear in the postings -- especially when those postings have been excerpted from wider-screen or higher-resolution media. Please be patient with me while I work within Google's somewhat stifling Blogger framework. If some graphics are cut off, you might just left-click on them to see if you can get an original source screen with the full graphic shown -- regrettably, this only works some of the time. In the event that any of the wording is cut off, you might change your screen magnification down from 100% to 75%. But don't worry -- the copy very seldom gets cut off. In some cases, if the article has been re-posted from another source (and you sadly can almost never tell you might try clicking on the article title, to get redirected to the original source posting, which will generally be full-sized and easy to read. No matter what...Please don't run out to the local drugstore in the rain and buy some of those overpriced non-prescription "reading glasses" that will make you look like either 1) a Senator in a subcommittee proceeding, or like 2) a substitute teacher from the early 1060's.

And now, intrepid explorers...TO INFINITY! AND BEYOND!

TNNW - We've Struck Url! (Again) Our shrunken urls have been re-routing people to unusual destinations, and we humbly apologize. Our real urls have been horrifically obscured. In one instance, one of our shortened urls (which have never been popular at THE NATIONAL NETWORKER) was directing some readers to a pornographic site... I have, solely in the interest of quality control, clicked on that flawed link and have been routed to that site repeatedly. I am offended every time that I see it. Not only have we lost a tremendous amount of our prospective subscribers, but the operators of the lewd site have not even offered us a commission for all of the additional traffic which they’ve received through our good offices. These people clearly do not relate to the TNNW values of reciprocity and exponentiality. What a shame. Another one of our truncated urls was directing readers to a classifed NSA site (kidding, really). Learn more http://htxt.it/goWU Now, here is the news: Because of the sensory overload imposed upon us every single day by all of the promoters who are exploiting ever-evolving "social media," it is becoming increasingly important to make your message stand out...it must absolutely soar over and above the competitive cacaphony of other people's persistent noise. What would it be worth to you, as an individual, or to you, as a member of an organization, to stand out? To be noticed? To set yourself apart from anyone else. From this moment on, one of the greatest considerations for all entrepreneurs, professionals and organizational leadership will be the creation of a unique identity. Those few experts who will are able to make us stand out, to be different, to be heard -- those individuals will become increasingly valuable. Whether they call themselves "image consultants," "media consultants," or "marketing consultants," they will be increasingly in demand. Getting positive and profitable attention is becoming increasingly difficult. INT'L NEWS I will pe

from HelloTxtINT'L NEWS I will periodically be re-posting breaking international news headlines from both the Financial Times (FT) and the Associated Press (AP) to certain of my blogs and to a number of the Twitter accounts which I host or co-host. Most of the material which I routinely write reflects either my unique perspective regarding a variety of subjects, and may (on rare occasion), be humorous, I believe that there is so much happening in the world that I have an obligation to take brief departures from my usual content in order to provide readers with a convenient international news update. While much of what happens in the world is beyond the scope of our individual control, I firmly believe we can, as socially interactive Human Beings, be proactive. 1. We can keep each other informed of significant events and the trends which they imply so that we may prepare for their consequences...or, acting together in cooperation, actually change or reverse certain negative trends to re-shape the future; 2. We can choose how to respond to the things that are visited upon us (bank collapses, and the like) in the most constructive and productive matter. The way in which we react to events is every bit as important as the events themselves. If we wish to survive and thrive, we must have a constant flow of information to evaluate in terms of its implications for us and our plans. My most direct observations (many of which are tactless and irreverent) despite their intended sincerity can always be found at http://htxt.it/ZHxT , and I advise every single one of my friends and colleagues to get a free subscription to THE NATIONAL NETWORKER, and become a part of TNNW's business community, at http://htxt.it/nyjU . I do have an ulterior motive. Adam J. Kovitz, Founder of the publication and the company, has threatened to double the price (at the moment the publication is free), if we don't garner at least 100,000 subscribers. In addition, if I meet my personal goal of obtaining 100,00 subscribers for Adam, he has promised me a 15% commission on all subscription revenues. That fellow sure knows how to make a deal, eh? Recall... It is inte

from HelloTxtRecall... It is interesting to note that the two most powerful stimuli ("triggers") to create full and vivid sensorial recall happen to be 1) the olfactory sense -- you sense of smell...the scent of an old perfume, cologne, a favorite childhood food, certain flowers...and 2) music...both instrumental and vocal. If these two forces are properly incorporated in any therapy session, form of entertainment, or presentation, the efficacy of the communication will be heightened. Human beings are uncanny in this way; we mark the most significant moments in our lives with ambient music and fragrances. Ironically, these are stimuli which are actually processed by the most primitive parts of our brain. This also explains how a person can be moved to tears when hearing an old melody, or how an individual can find himself (or herself) mysteriously attracted to a new love who happens to wear the same fragrance as had been worn by a a love long past. The mechanics of memory are truly amazing. --Douglas Castle

Music Therapy - I ha

Music Therapy - I have recently revamped my Humanitas Maximus blog. I have some excellent music players on the site that you can listen to. If you'd like, you can even embed them on your own websites, blogs, newsletters, social media, homepages and bathroom stalls (kidding). Here's the post from Twitter: douglascastleMUSIC THERAPY - Please have a listen at http://htxt.it/xie2 . I have updated the celebrated Humanitas Maximus blog - great music! --Thank you, music lovers. --DC

MUSIC THERAPY - Highly recommended

Dear Friends:

I have just updated the custom music players at HUMANITAS MAXIMUS. The music catalogue is there for you to enjoy. I sometimes leave the music playing continuously in the background while I am working. Occasionally, I even get inspired. Sadly, the videos are generally not that interesting, so I don't feel that I'm missing a great deal by just letting the music play.

Please visit the site at http://humanitasmaximus.blogspot.com/, and enjoy the music. You'll have to scroll down toward the bottom of the page to get to the players, but the trip will be worthwhile. You can even get the code to embed these players on your own sites.

While you're in the neighborhood, I would be ever so grateful if you would 1) Favorite the blog, and 2) Twitter it up a bit.

I am working to breathe some life back into this orphaned site. I've been a negligent blogger. (sigh)

Thank you.

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle

SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO

SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO

We are constantly inundated with information. It comes at us from every direction, through a myriad of sources and channels, and in a ceaseless flood of conflict, contradiction and competition. Our senses are completely bombarded... battered and besieged to the point of paralytic overload. We are no longer truly receiving coherent messages or communications -- we are being overwhelmed by noise; so much so, that we cannot find any golden nuggets of information which might be hidden amidst the continuous backdrop of screaming, flickering, flashing and pulling. Things fly at us far to quickly to clearly see, let alone catch.

We are starting to stop listening. We are starting to stop thinking. We are drowning in this low-signal, high-noise world, and it is beginning to de-civilize us. We are speaking in pop-culture staccato, trying to get the attention of (or perhaps seeking communion with) other Human Beings.

If Human social evolution can be correlated with the ambient signal-to-noise ratio, we are heading in the wrong direction. With all of our technological advances, we are working harder, and with far less gratification, than ever in the history of our species.

In this environment, the greatest struggles are: 1) to hear, and to make sense of what we're hearing; 2) to be heard and to be understood; 3) to achieve relationships and dialogues.

In the meantime, there's just too much noise to discern the signal...and I believe that the signal may well be a distress call.

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle

WASTED ENERGY

It is almost always easier to complain and place blame than to actually go about solving a problem.

I work with a group of writers. They principally write to promote themselves in their respective professional capacities. I have the experience, technical expertise and willingness to help each and every one of these fascinating (but Human) people to make great advances toward career success and financial independence. The following was excerpted from the closing portion of a letter which I wrote earlier today:

"By the way, my colleagues, here's a downloadable document file which should be of interest to you in helping to support your self-promotion and financial independence efforts. As I hope that you realize, I invest a great deal of time working on creating tools to help all of us to advance ourselves professionally.

Download:
http://www.mediafire.com/?h7umqny2vmyvvx1

This last download was sent out to in excess of 45 individual authors -- only 4 people took the time to download it. Being a writer is apparently extremely time-consuming, as it does not permit an author any time to read. Why sometimes an author doesn't even have the time to read the work that he has just finished writing! Busy, busy, busy.

Having said this, no worries...I enjoy irony. One of my all-time favorites was the brief tale of a fellow who was too busy earning a living to get rich.

Parables are excellent teaching tools.

Faithfully, with great respect,

Douglas"
