HUMANITAS MAXIMUS ARTICLES

You should read the fine print which follows first...

*Note to my Readers About Viewing Posts: This blog is formatted in such a manner as to cut off certain of the larger graphics that appear in the postings -- especially when those postings have been excerpted from wider-screen or higher-resolution media. Please be patient with me while I work within Google's somewhat stifling Blogger framework. If some graphics are cut off, you might just left-click on them to see if you can get an original source screen with the full graphic shown -- regrettably, this only works some of the time. In the event that any of the wording is cut off, you might change your screen magnification down from 100% to 75%. But don't worry -- the copy very seldom gets cut off. In some cases, if the article has been re-posted from another source (and you sadly can almost never tell you might try clicking on the article title, to get redirected to the original source posting, which will generally be full-sized and easy to read. No matter what...Please don't run out to the local drugstore in the rain and buy some of those overpriced non-prescription "reading glasses" that will make you look like either 1) a Senator in a subcommittee proceeding, or like 2) a substitute teacher from the early 1060's.

And now, intrepid explorers...TO INFINITY! AND BEYOND!

"Conventional treatment having failed him...

To Whomsoever This Matter May Concern (I always address my letters to faceless bureaucrats from acronym-encrusted governmental agencies, utilities companies, financial institutions and other powerful and legally untouchable entities which make a great deal of money without any individual Human Being "working" there actually taking on any responsibility): [ahem]

Sometimes you just have to play. This Picassa program is just what I've needed...I can now extract other people's images (completely out of context), and insert or superimpose my own clever captions. While some would regard such tomfoolery as wasteful, I believe it to be a special form of occupational therapy for overly-pressured, otherwise chronically-responsible people like myself.

There was a social movement (as opposed to the other kind) some years ago to consider graffiti an art form. The movement, lamentably, failed. If you were a teenager back then, getting a can of spraypaint at a store became almost as much of a challenge as it has become to buy a decongestant or expectorant today -- You have to have a valid driver's license and undergo a retinal scan in order to purchase and operate nasal spray in many jurisdictions -- but, I digress.

The point is that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, and one person's spam may be another person's epiphany. Judge ye not, lest ye be judged, verily I say unto ye!

Here's one that I created just a few days ago. I've even titled it. C'mon. Look! (if you're getting this by email or RSS, you might want to look at the actual blog posting) ---

How Much Do You Truly Value Your Time? Answer 5 Questions to Find Out.

How Much Do You Truly Value Your Time? Answer 5 Questions to Find Out.

Please Note:

This article, which contains a brief questionnaire,  was previously posted under the title, "Connecting: Some Questions to Ask Yourself...Seriously."

The previous title was posted in error. This mini-survey (refer to it as Survey TNNW5Q), as you will see, has to do with the presence in each of us, of opposing objectives.

On the one hand, we are taught to be thrifty and independent; this is reinforced with aphorisms like, "I'd save the money and do it myself," "keep an eye on the bottom line (which invariably causes most of us to turn to the default setting of "don't spend money, it detracts from profits.")," "Waste not, want not," and the like. The underlying and unifying rationale is that any money spent is "cost" or "loss," and that it is never actually an "investment in the production of greater revenues and greater profits." It is rather like wanting to grow a large crop without investing money on planting quality seeds. Even better (as terrible analogies go), it can be about as reasonable as heating your house by tearing down your walls and throwing them into the fireplace. After a time, the heating problem becomes a non-issue.

On the other hand, we are told that "time is money," and "don't waste your valuable time."

How you think about money (spending, saving, earning and investing), speaks volumes about your belief in yourself and your own abilities. Fear of poverty is generally a much more powerful motivator than the drive for success and achievement.

A poverty mentality might be a success repellant. Are you frugal? Or simply fearful?

Please bear this in mind as Douglas Castle (I refer to myself in the third person frequently --it makes me feel strangely powerful. You might try it sometime, too) presents Survey TNNW5Q:

-----------------------------------------

Dear Friends:

All other things being equal, and without reading into the questions (simple choices, actually), which of these two alternatives would you prefer in each of the cases below:

FIRST
1. Free social media access to all platforms and free passes to large group networking events, or;
2. Personal third-party introductions (with endorsements) to five pre-qualified, motivated prospective clients or partners per month at a fee of $50/month to $150/month?

SECOND
1. An email subscriber list of 100,000 people (acquired for free), or;
2. A group of 5 individuals who knew you, your product, and were aggressively talking to people to pre-qualify prospective clients to refer to you at a fee of $50/month to $150/month (total) plus a small commission on each closed sale?

THIRD
1. Spending time on the telephone and in virtual or actual meetings with prospective clients, or;
2. Spending time on the internet and working with your social media, with vigorous postings and email correspondence?

FOURTH
1. Spending time exploring and implementing cost-saving measures, or;
2. Spending time exploring and implementing revenue-generating measures?

FIFTH
1. Being the most well-regarded and liked person among your network of contacts, or;
2. Being the person among your contacts who has the most needed product or service?

Please put all of your choices (anonymously) on the form which follows as soon as you can, and then hit the SEND button. No explanations, rationalizations, qualifications or excuses are permitted. Be decisive, without hedging or apologies. There are five questions, and the answer to each one is either 1 or 2.

Please click HERE for a pop-up form.

Thank you for your time, consideration, input and honesty. Anonymous statistical results and their possible implications will be posted shortly. We'll keep you posted.

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle

Deadline EXTENDED to 4/22 on Self-Evaluation Survey! Job 1 = Know Yourself. Click on http://bit.ly/Introspect6  #TNNW_BUZZWORKS

Commentary: Take an anonymous survey to find out more about who you truly are; your affinities and dislikes; your strengths and weaknesses; your personal and professional style; your areas of greatest potential. Self-evaluation is one of the most powerful success tools available, yet so few of us take advantage of it's enormous, transformative, revelatory potential. We must study who we are within to be able to address the world outside of us, and to interrelate with others. -- Douglas Castle [ http://aboutdouglascastle.blogspot.com/ ].

Prevention and Treatment of High Blood Pressure - Various Conventional and Alternative Approaches

Prevention and Treatment of High Blood Pressure - Various Conventional and Alternative Approaches.

Note: This article is does not offer medical, health or fitness advice, and is provided for acadmentic and interest purposes only. All information is made availab elt o you for you consideration in conjunction with the advice of your healthcare professional. This article was written by Douglas Castle http://aboutDouglascastle.blogspot.com  (Featured Columnist for the National Networker Weekly Newsletter) and the author of The Global Futurist and a host of other publications, media and blogs.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is  a condition which can rapidly develop and actually cause death with a minimum of telltale symptoms. Hypertension is becoming increasingly common, incresingly severe, and is invariably diagnosed and treated. It can be caused by emotional stress, physical stess, poor diet, a lack of exercise, overweight and genetic factors. Ahough it might not preventable, it can be kept under control.

According to the American Heart Association nearly 1/3 of the adults (people over 18) have high blood pressure but nearly 1/3 of those don't know they are sick. This is because high blood pressure is a silent killer, with little to no symptoms.

Current guidelines for blood pressure are: normal is below 120/80, prehypertension is between 120/80 and 139/89 and hypertension is 140/80 or greater. A further distinction is made for those who have blood pressure greater than 160/100 as stage 2 hypertension.
Although doctors can't identify a definitive cause in 95% of people diagnosed with hypertension, they do know there are some lifestyle choices that can be modified and which will cause a decrease in the measurements. These lifestyle modifications are the first in a line of alternative treatments for hypertension. The first lifestyle choice is weight. The greater the body mass the more pressure exerted on the arterial walls and more oxygen that is required to feed the tissues of the body. By reducing your weight to normal limits you'll be able to effect a significant change in your blood pressure.

Some of the basics follow:
1. minimize your salt (and sodium) intake;
2. drink plendy of water and dilute fruit juices;
3. reduce caffeine intake;
4. avoid excessive use of decongenstant or stimulant formulas;
5. maintain a healthy, light bodyweight;
6. meditate and de-stress as often as possible;
7. get constant cardio-vascular exercise;
8. Take time to breathe slowly, deeply and deliberately;
9  Use positive mental visualization to the greatest extent possible;
10.See your health care provider frequently in order to monitor your pressure - You may also be helped with prescription drugs

Some Alternative Therapies and Substances which may indeed be worth your investigation:
1. Take significant effective doses of L-Arginine, a natural amino acid which helps to increase the amount of Nitric Oxide in the Bloodstream;
2. Take reasonable does of Foic Acid along with vitamin B12 (this combination reduces blood homosysteine as well);
3. Take reasonable amounts of Hawthorne supplements;
4. Taking garlic in a small medicinal dose is thought to be helpful in aiding arterial and veinous health;
5. Taking small amounts of flush-free Niacin is a cholesterol clearing agent, and a de facto widener of the arteries as plaque is kept from forming;
6. Taking small amounts of Coenzyme Q10 might also have a favorable effect on vessel wall health, plasticity and longevity.

Slogans - Sharp Objects That Penetrate

Slogans - Sharp Objects That Penetrate.

Here is a re-post from a recent blog brief which I sent out to a cross-section of social media, with some modifications and enhancements:

Communicate with Precision

Your Challenge: You have less than 5 seconds and no more than 140 characters. You are surrounded by noise, spam and information competing for your audience's attention. Make your point. Can you? How?

The Solution: A lethal, memorable catchphrase that 1) attracts attention through clever wording, humor, controversy, curiousity-building a call to action or fear, and 2) states what you or your company actually does.

The Reward: Branding, buzz, credibility, SEO and revenues.

The Means: Rhonda L. Sher, one of our newest Members of The National Networker Companies (a GICBC) doesn't call herself what she is, but she does exactly what we are talking about...my term (a lingovation) for Rhona's area of expertise, framed as a profession is "SLOGANIZING" (or perhaps "SLOGANEERING"). Given the narrow parameters of communication in this ever-declining signal-to-noise ratio environment, her area of specialization is becoming increasingly crucial.

You must SLOGANIZE or SLOGANEER to succeed. Your path is simple...

1. Sloganize (or Sloganeer);

2. Buzz;

3. Brand Yourself.

Before I lead you into a re-post of my most recent TNNW article brief about Rhonda, I am obligated, by Adam Kovitz, to tell you to join us at TNNWC (for free) to receive our free publications, and to gain access to our fabulous services and Global Interworked Cooperative Business Community. Click on http://bit.ly/JoinTNNW.

Now I have to use my vast powers of pursuasion to convince Rhonda to make her uniqely powerful area of specialization available to our Members.

What follows is re-post of what the magic of this Sloganizing (or Sloganeering) is all about.

Think about the sheer rallying power inherent phrases like "Yes We Can," "Not On My Watch," "Just Say No," "Mikey Likes It!" "Shock and Awe", "Are You Man Enough?" "Save The Children, " "Protecting Your Rights," "The Quiet Company, "Capture Those Moments," "I Keep My Neighbors Safe," To Serve and To Protect"... There is intense and immense power in well-chosen words...

___________________________
Dear Friends:

Silly slogans are not fully silly. They tend to be memorable. Creating catchphrases, one-liners, blurbs, campaign (or even military operations) titles, bylines, credos and slogans requires a tremendous skill -- getting the maximimum  meaning and memorability out of the minimal number of words.

You must be a poet, a wordsmith, a humorist, a behavioral psychologist -- or you must be Rhonda L. Sher, of the Two Minute Networker (http://thetwominutenetworker.com/).

Ms. Sher is a noted author and an expert in high-speed, maximum efficiency networking, but her greatest magic lies in her ability to create fabulously catchy slogans. Every person, every company and every cause-based organization needs one. You can either visit Rhonda' websites, or you can contact her either a) by email at Rhonda@twominutenetworker.com , or by telephone at 951.587.6512. One thing is certain - Rhonda not only excels at what she does, but she has fun doing it. She is a true joy to invest time with.

By the way, this endorsement was unsolicited and is uncompensated. It's simply because I, and my esteemed colleagues at The National Networker Companies (join us at no cost by clicking on http://bit.ly/JoinTNNW) , want to be certain that all of our members and readers are constantly kept apprised of any person, company, product or service which may help them in their quest for growth.

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle

p.s. Here's one from me: "Don't Compete... Collaborate!"

p.p.s I couldn't resist this. Neither will you. So predictable. Heck... Enjoy it.

You Need A Distraction - Yes, You Do!

You Need A Distraction - Yes, You Do!

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Jan:

I pride myself on being serious about providing priceless (I don't always charge) information to my faithful [I use broad parameters in my definition of the term "faithful" here] readers. Sometimes we get so serious, so immersed, so obsessed, so eye-in-the-microscope, that we lose all perspective of why we are living. Say what you may, our lives are, at their highest purpose, journeys toward our happiness -  toward finding our Bliss.

Yet, at times, it seems a futile pursuit to "stop and smell the roses" when you feel as if you are busily climbing a mountain of manure in little blue hospital slippers and without a walking stick. Well...permit yourself to pause (be careful where you sit) and be distracted for a few brief moments.

You have my permission to feel enjoyment, to save this article and view it in installments, and to forward the whole thing to every friend you know (and some whom you aren't quite sure of) who may be in need. Advise them that Douglas Castle, the undercompensated Vice-Chairman of The National Networker Companies will write them a note if they need one.

~Between 18 and 22, a woman is like Africa. Half discovered, half wild, fertile and naturally beautiful!
~Between 23 and 30, a woman is like Europe. Well developed and open to trade, especially for someone of real value.
~Between 31 and 35, a woman is like Spain, very hot, relaxed and convinced of her own beauty.
~Between 36 and 40, a woman is like  Greece, gently aging but still a warm and desirable place to visit.
~Between 41 and 50, a woman is like Great Britain, with a glorious and all conquering past.
~Between 51 and 60, a woman is like Israel, has been through war, doesn't make the same mistakes twice, takes care of business.
~Between 61 and 70, a woman is like Canada, self-preserving, but open to meeting new people.
~After 70, she becomes Tibet ...  Wildly beautiful, with a  mysterious past and the wisdom of the ages......An adventurous spirit and a thirst for spiritual knowledge.

THE GEOGRAPHY OF A MAN

~Between 1 and 80, a man is like Iran ... ruled by nuts.

3.) Thirdly, we have a very significant ground-breaking and wind-breaking sociological treatise regarding men, auto-suggestion and expectation management provided by Professor (Emeritus) Rick Itzkowich, Co-Founder of QuoteActions ... a program designed to keep you in touch with your clients and prospective clients -- to be certain that you will be in the right place at the right time when your client needs what you have to offer. [By this is an unsolicited and unpaid endorsement. I truly don't really care for Rick that much, but I have to pretend to like him because we are forced to work together].

4.) Fourthly, we have TNNW Survey #6: A SELF-EVALUATION. Take the survey (it's anonymous) and learn a great deal about yourself just by taking it!  Just click on http://www.surveymonkey.com/TNNWsurvey6 . The interesting element here is the little-used learning tool of Introspective Feedback.

5.) Lastly, please scamper over to http://braintenance.blogspot.com/, and scroll way down to the videos on Meditation and Relaxation. Pick any one, click and enjoy it.
