Dear Friends (and people who actually willingly associate with me):Imagination is a dying skill. We live in a society with too much stimulation, and too little opportunity to flex the creative muscle of all innovation, and from which progress springs forth -- the imagination.
Fewer people are thinking, and dreaming and writing about these intensely significant albeit fleeting moments of the divine creation potential inherent in the Human Spirit. There can be no great progress, if there is no great dreaming or imagination. Every progressive step in Human cultural evolution history started as a dream, put into writing. From Common Sense, to Uncle Tom's Cabin to Catcher in the Rye to Fahrenheit 451, books have either fashioned or foreseen the future.
Without imagination, and without the power of books and words, we can neither prepare for the future or create it. The gift of imagination, channeled through the disciple of sharing through writing, may be the only residual trace of divinity in our endangered Human species.
My friend Jay Goldberg recently wrote a "flash fiction" story.

"Mr. Goldberg has written a masterpiece in miniature. In the spirit of the late Dr. Issac Asimov, it is humorous, ironic, and a flash study in the foibles of Human Nature and temporal cultural distortion. I look forward to seeing more of this fellow's work. He is three things that many aspire to be but are not: 1) a student of the Human Condition, 2) a philosopher, and 3) a WRITER."
